Tributes to Brickhouse Brown, Nikolai Volkoff & Brian Christopher…

This past weekend was a tragic one for fans of professional wrestling. In the span of a couple of day, we’ve lost the legendary Memphis wrestler Frederick “Brickhouse Brown” Seawright, WWE Hall of Famer Josip “Nikolai Volkoff” Peruzović and Attitude Era superstar “Too Sexy”/”Grandmaster Sexay” Brian Christopher Lawler passed away over the weekend.  Brown, one of the top heels in Southern US pro wrestling promotions in the 1980s and 1990s, succumbed to his long battle with cancer. He was only 57 years old. Volkoff, known for his classic Cold War-era heel work as a Soviet Union sympathizer (often with Tag Team Championship partner, The Iron Sheik) and his eventual face-turn to US sympathizer, was only 70 years old. Christopher, who was known for his rise in the WWF’s light-heavyweight division and as 1/2 of Too Cool with “Too Hot”/”Scotty 2 Hotty” Scott Taylor (often in tow with Rikishi), tragically died due to complications after attempting to take his own life while in custody on DUI and evading police charges; he was only 46 years old. OOH YEAH! “Macho Man” Randy Savage to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame!

Macho Man Randy Savage WWE Hall Of Fame announcement WWE Raw

Ever since the WWE began it’s Hall of Fame (originally in memory of Andre the Giant), the club inducted many stars and executives involved in the wrestling business who inspired and paved the way for the wrestlers on modern-day. However, with the recent more-publicized era of the Hall of Fame (mainly thanks to the widely-promoted ceremony that takes place the night before WrestleMania), there’s been one glaring omission: the fact the “Macho Man” Randy Savage wasn’t in it. However, “wasn’t” is now the key term. HE’S FINALLY & OFFICIALLY IN!!! OOOH YEEAAHH!!! Continue reading “OOH YEAH! “Macho Man” Randy Savage to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame!”

Fans Spent Six Years Making This Mega Man Game

Fans Spent Six Years Making This Mega Man GameMega Man fans aren’t just hardcore (Mega Man 3 FOR THE WIN), we are quite the dedicated bunch. What’s that? You want me to give you an example as to WHY?  Well, how about this awesome fan game that two (count ’em, TWO) people have been working on since 2008.  The game is called Mega Man: Revenge of the Fallen (and I know what you’re thinking; it’s NOT a Transformers reference). The subtitle is actually a reference to the game’s story, which involves the Robot Masters being revived by the evil (or misunderstood?) Dr. Wily, and they’re out looking for revenge on the Blue Bomber. Naturally (because VIDEO GAMES), it’s your job to stop them. Continue reading “Fans Spent Six Years Making This Mega Man Game”

The 30 Moves of the late-great Chris Candido

Christopher B. Candito (March 21, 1972 – April 28, 2005) was an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name Chris Candido.  Although of average size, Candido was such a solid worker that he worked for all three major organizations during one of the most popular times in wrestling history. He was a one-time world champion, having held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship once. In addition, he held several championships in professional wrestling promotions such as Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as Skip The Bodydonna.

‘Ripple Dot Zero’ gets my Sonic into your Strider

I’m up for playing a free Flash game! What about you?? Ripple Dot Zero is a game created by Pixeltruss, and it’s a love letter to the awesome Genesis-gaming years of my youth (yeah, I was a SUPER, DUPER Sega fanboy as a child). Ripple Dot Zero takes some inspiration from two popular Sega Genesis franchises under the belt of the big, blue video game company, Sonic the Hedgehog and Strider.  For example, the game main character is a genetically engineered penguin sporting a sweet pair of sneakers who escapes from his laboratory cage and bounces throughout the air via spring pads (almost like Sega’s mascot). As far a Strider references go, Ripple the Penguin — that doesn’t sound that bad — is armed with dangerous plasma claws with a pretty long reach; you know, like that super awesome sword! Plus, the music is awesome! GO. PLAY. IT. NOW!!!! Continue reading “‘Ripple Dot Zero’ gets my Sonic into your Strider”
