The Apple IIc; Great for Gaming, Greater for remaking ‘Star Wars’ trailers…

Oh, the Apple IIc; a classic personal computer from back in the day. It was released in 1984 as the compact (which is what the “c” stood for) device which was essentially a complete Apple II computer setup (without the display and power supply) squeezed into a small notebook-sized housing. Even though it was discontinued in 1988, many enthusiasts have continued to find new and interesting uses for the Apple IIc (like with MANY other devices no longer in-production). For example, this shot-by-shot trailer remake of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer is ONE of those interesting things Continue reading “The Apple IIc; Great for Gaming, Greater for remaking ‘Star Wars’ trailers…”

Here’s the 3D Remasters of the CDi Zelda games that NOBODY Asked For…

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the HD remakes NO ONE asked for. EVER.  Some backstory, back in the 90s, not every Legend of Zelda game was made by Nintendo.  In truth, there were three games for the Philips CD-i (never heard of it? Exactly!) that were developed by other developers: Link: The Faces of Evil, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, and Zelda’s Adventure.  To be honest, all three were pretty disappointing, and if you don’t believe me, check out Kotaku’s opinion of the Zelda CD-i games, if you dare….. A full remake of Resident Evil 2…in Unreal Engine 3! WOW!

While Capcom is spinning its wheels on the series (although Resident Evil HD Remastered was prettybfreaking good and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 looks very promising), YouTube user Rod Lima has finished a complete remake of Resident Evil 2 in Unreal Engine 3, with the video above containing Claire’s A scenario from start to finish. Maybe THIS is the remake that us RE fans wanted for arguably the best game of the classic (tank-controlled) RE series. Sure, the GameCube remake was awesome, but what about the second one?

Mutant Football League remake aims for late-2015 release! YAY!!!!

Almost a year ago, the announcement of the resurrection of the Sega Genesis classic, Mutant League Football (now titled ‘Mutant Football League‘) ended up not becoming a thing. SAD FACE. However, there exists new footage showing the game running in pre-alpha state, and despite a series of setbacks on Kickstarter, developer Digital Dreams hopes to release Mutant Football League in quarter 4 of THIS YEAR…. if it can get $750,000 in Kickstarter funding. The edition of the nostalgic franchise will reignite the 16-bit-era classic series that combined over-the-top mutant violence with football, almost like NFL Blitz, but WITH MUTANTS! Konami Authorizes A Free ‘Metal Gear (1987) Reboot!

Are you a huge Metal Gear fan like I am? Are ya’? ARE YA’?!? Since I’m a huge fan, I do in fact own the special edition of Metal Gear Solid 3 (called “Subsistance”) which contained updated playable versions of the original MSX Metal Gear games (Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake). But if you’re itching to get your hands on the first game for a nostalgic run, then you’d be happy with the news that a group of independent modders had Konami’s permission to reboot the very first Metal Gear game from 1987 and release it completely free to the public. Oh my goodness, IT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!! Continue reading “Konami Authorizes A Free ‘Metal Gear (1987) Reboot!”

A Classic Returns! ‘Shadowrun Returns’ coming to Steam in June!

Shadowrun is a science fantasy role-playing game, first published in 1989, that is set in a near-future fictional universe where cybernetics, crime,  magic and fantasy creatures co-exist. The original game spawned a diverse franchise that includes a collectible card game, two miniature-based wargames, multiple video games, a series of novels and music.  My earlier experiences with the Shadowrun franchise is limited to the two video games released for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, and now — thanks to Kickstarter — Shadowrun Returns, the long-awaited video game sequel, will be coming out for PC this summer!   Continue reading “A Classic Returns! ‘Shadowrun Returns’ coming to Steam in June!”

DuckTales: Remastered is REAL?!? THANK YOU, JESUS!!!

One of my favorite gaming memories as a child was playing Disney & Capcom’s DuckTales on the good old Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 1990’s.  The game was just perfect, solid and tight controls, go-anywhere levels, tons of secrets and surprises, awesome boss battles, and the music — oh my God, THE MUSIC; especially the theme from the Moon level.  Based on that, I was BEYOND EXCITED for the news from Capcom at the Penny Arcade Expo that developer WayForward would be responsible for the high-definition, remastered remake of that same DuckTales game for current generation consoles!  Check out the trailer after the break, and who knows; you might solve a mystery…OR REWRITE HISTORY!!!!!!!!!  Continue reading “DuckTales: Remastered is REAL?!? New Trailer to “Evil Dead” Remake; You Have Been Warned!

I love the Evil Dead movies, and I am really hyped for the remake of the 1981 cult classic that is coming out this Spring (especially because a lot of the people involved in the original film are ALSO involved in the remake). For the uninitiated, Evil Dead (and this remake) is about a group of five friends who essentially barricade themselves inside a remote cabin, when they discover a mysterious book and unwittingly summon up an assortment of dormant, demonic spirits.  I really loved the first trailer released, but this second trailer is …well…it’s…WOW…just check it out after the break.  Fair warning though: it’s the red band trailer, so it’s REALLY gory and graphic. Like the title of this post states: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!   Continue reading “New Trailer to “Evil Dead” Remake; You Have Been Warned!”
