Due To Expired Music Rights, Rockstar Pulls David Bowie And More From ‘Grand Theft Auto IV’

Rockstar Games is removing a number of songs in Grand Theft Auto IV due to music licensing issues, as a pretty-large patch for the game started to go live this past weekend, resulting in eliminating A LOT of songs across all the radio stations. For example, the Vladivostok FM station was predicted to be particularly hard hit, and that turns out to be very true.  In the place of some of the missing tracks, Rockstar will add a few more newer, lesser-known Russian songs, mostly by Seryoga. ‘DiveKick’, A Game with TWO Buttons: Dive & Kick…

With many complaints about video games becoming much too difficult to play, especially fighting games.  The typical complaints comes from the number of input buttons to execute combos and special moves, plus the increased complexity of many of the popular fighting games. I’m proud to make note of the impending release of a much simpler fighting game like ‘DiveKick‘, which has only TWO input commands: one button to dive, and another button to kick. DuckTales: Remastered is REAL?!? THANK YOU, JESUS!!!

One of my favorite gaming memories as a child was playing Disney & Capcom’s DuckTales on the good old Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 1990’s.  The game was just perfect, solid and tight controls, go-anywhere levels, tons of secrets and surprises, awesome boss battles, and the music — oh my God, THE MUSIC; especially the theme from the Moon level.  Based on that, I was BEYOND EXCITED for the news from Capcom at the Penny Arcade Expo that developer WayForward would be responsible for the high-definition, remastered remake of that same DuckTales game for current generation consoles!  Check out the trailer after the break, and who knows; you might solve a mystery…OR REWRITE HISTORY!!!!!!!!!  Continue reading “DuckTales: Remastered is REAL?!? Activision To Ship the Not-Ready-For-Primetime “The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct” in March

Last year’s “The Walking Dead” adventure game from Telltale Games was one of the best games from 2012; it even won Game of the Year from the Spike Video Game Awards and from several other gaming news outlets.  It seems like the comic book series, the AMC television show, and the video game have shown that the franchise can product top quality licensed products….until this.  Because it’s always just a matter of time for someone to shamelessly milk the license for all it’s worth with little effort and respect for the intellectual property, ENTER: ACTIVISION and TERMINAL REALITY’s “The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct” first-person shooter.   Continue reading “Activision To Ship the Not-Ready-For-Primetime “The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct” in March”

On this week’s more stable episode of WIRed (between the yelling and shameless plugs of my CES 2013 posts), I discuss the architectural collaboration between Zaha Hadid and Pharrell Williams, concepts of the Google smartwatch, the PS3 re-release of FMV trailblazer “Mad Dog McCree, and the HIGHEST DROPKICK EVER DONE IN THE HISTORY OF PRO WRESTLING (maybe; still VERY impressive).   Continue reading “Pharrell/Zaha Collab on Smartwatches w/ Mad Dog Dropkicks – WIRed #29”
