Tetsuya Naito Goes Chris Jericho on Chris Jericho Before his Wrestle Kingdom 13 Match with, you guessed it, Chris Jericho.

After winning the IWGP Intercontinental Champion at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle event, Chris Jericho has been frustrating many members of the NJPW roster (thanks to his now-signature surprise attacks starting since earlier this year), including his upcoming Wrestle Kingdom 13 challenger, Los Ingobernables de Japon’s Tetsuya Naito, who is likely at his wits end. You’ll see why very soon… After being brutalized to a bloody … Continue reading Tetsuya Naito Goes Chris Jericho on Chris Jericho Before his Wrestle Kingdom 13 Match with, you guessed it, Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho challenges Kenny Omega at New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 in January!

Well, it certainly appears that Christmas will be arriving both early AND late this year. After “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega successfully defended his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against Trent Barretta at New Japan’s Power Struggle event this past Sunday, Chris Jericho made an appearance on screen, challenging Omega to a match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome. Now, while many long-time wrestling fans know that Y2J is no stranger to the Land of the Rising Sun, his connection to the WWE certainly raises a few eyebrows and makes the impact much bigger. New Japan Pro Wrestling Invades The Upcoming ‘Yakuza 6’ Game

Since Sega debuted this game series back in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, the Yakuza games have brought a unique flavor of open-world brawling to consoles worldwide. Think of it as modern Grand Theft Auto meets old-school River City Ransom set in Japan.  I recall Area5 (you know, the former “1Up Show” people) referring to the series as “Shenmue done right.” Anyway, the PlayStation 4-exclusive Yakuza 6 is coming out soon in Japan, and it’s been reported by a Japanese gaming publication that New Japan Pro Wrestling stars will be appearing in the game as a rival gang. I love this; I want this; ALL of this; IN MY FACE! Twitter Feud Leads to Match between Will Ospreay and Big Van Vader!

Just so you know, Will Ospreay and Ricochet had an amazingly athletic and physical match during New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament back in May (highlights in the video above), however there are many detractors who isolated the “overly acrobatic” parts and accused the two of killing the business.  You’d think by now that things have more or less cooled down, but not when Vader is one of the match’s most vocal critics. Keep in mind that Vader is an American wrestler who went to Japan (after being a recurring character on Boy Meets World) and performed quite a few moonsaults himself; that’s right Vader, Pepperidge Farms remembers, as do we wrestling fans…  Well, after Ospreay and Vader went back-and-forth on Twitter, it looks like they’re about to lock horns in the squared circle in English wrestling promotion Revolution Pro pretty soon. Rocky Romero of NJPW Just Dropped An Album. Say What?!?

RockyR

Are you familiar with New Japan Pro Wrestling, then you’re PROBABLY also familiar with Rocky Romero. If not, you should know that he’s a longtime tag team specialist and sometimes dons the mask of Black Tiger, a legacy gimmick once held by the legendary Eddie Guerrero. He also has something in common with WWE stars John Cena, Shawn Michaels, and Tyler Breeze: he performs his own theme song, “RPG Vice Theme,” where he’s the vocalist AND producer. However, the story doesn’t stop there… Continue reading “Rocky Romero of NJPW Just Dropped An Album. Say What?!?”
