I can recall playing the id classic Doom on a myriad of devices, from computers, to home consoles (the SNES) and even on some portable systems, but could you imagine walking up to the ATMs at a local branch of your bank (or federal credit union; FCU’s FTW!) and after making a deposit, withdraw or transfer, you could play a few rounds of Doom? Konami Authorizes A Free ‘Metal Gear (1987) Reboot!

Are you a huge Metal Gear fan like I am? Are ya’? ARE YA’?!? Since I’m a huge fan, I do in fact own the special edition of Metal Gear Solid 3 (called “Subsistance”) which contained updated playable versions of the original MSX Metal Gear games (Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake). But if you’re itching to get your hands on the first game for a nostalgic run, then you’d be happy with the news that a group of independent modders had Konami’s permission to reboot the very first Metal Gear game from 1987 and release it completely free to the public.
