So A Typhoon Renamed ‘Nintendo’ to ‘intendo’, So Sayeth Mother Nature…

Typhoon. Noun. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a typhoon is “a hurricane occurring especially in the region of the Philippines or the China sea”. One might want to add — that based on current events — that typhoons hold grudges against the House of Mario and Donkey Kong. And Metroid and Zelda and Pikmin and Kirby and Animal Crossing and Pokemon and Star Tropics and Kid Icarus and Star Fox and….. Watch Nintendo’s Rise And Fall… As If They Were A Rock Band

As a delayed celebration of the release of ‘Super Smash Bros for 3DS,’ I wanted to share this nice little video for y’all.  We’re familiar with the various characters and franchises from Nintendo, but how about trying to picture Link as a European EDM legend? Or the dark story of Mario’s sex tape and drug addiction? Or Mega Man as a Sk8r Boi? Or Princess Peach’s pop music career. The concept of Rolling ‘Shell’ Magazine? No? Well, this video re-imagines the history of Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Link, and more Nintendo characters as the story of a rock band’s fast rise and drug-fueled fall, and IT IS AWESOME! You’ll enjoy how clever it is, how spot-on the references are, and the awesome cameos. This video made my day. Continue reading “Watch Nintendo’s Rise And Fall… As If They Were A Rock Band”

Ohio State Marching Band Pays Tribute To Games, Beats Michigan’s High Score Record

While I’m not a huge fan of Ohio State University (or the Big Ten Conference as a whole; nothing personal, I just do not care for them), this halftime performance dedicated to video games from their marching band is one of the best I’ve ever seen (after any performance from the World Famous Fighting Texas Aggie Band; #nobias).

Above is a still image from the halftime performance of The Ohio State University Marching Band from this past Saturday, October 6th, 2012 as the Buckeyes took on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. As previously mentioned, the theme was popular video games, and the performance included musical selections from The Legend of Zelda, Halo, Pokemon, Tetris, and much more.  Also, which is probably the BEST PART from the entire performance, make sure not to miss the running horse at the 6 minute mark.  Check out the entire Ohio State University Marching Band halftime show after the break.
