WWE Brawl; The Game That NEVER WAS…

I know that there are some things that Vince McMahon want people to forget: the WBF (World Bodybuilding Federation), the failed relaunch of WCW (World Championship Wrestling), the failed return of the nWo (New World Order) and the XFL (which stood for…well…TECHNICALLY nothing…).  Maybe we can chalk up another failed project to that pile.  Recently, concept art for an unreleased WWE fighting game, title WWE Brawl, depicting John Cena as a SWAT team member, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as a thug-like Mad Max and Mr. McMahon himself in a Lex Luthor-esque mech suit. More concept pictures and a gameplay video after the break! Continue reading “WWE Brawl; The Game That NEVER WAS…”

John Cena vs. Kurt Angle…IN A RAP BATTLE!

And now, for something completely different… When John Cena debuted in WWE in 2002, he was inspired by a speech given by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon to the rising stars of the company, exhorting them to show “ruthless aggression” to earn a place among the legends, Cena took advantage of the opportunity to face Angle. Cena managed to counter the Angle Slam and the ankle lock submission hold, but ultimately lost to a … Continue reading John Cena vs. Kurt Angle…IN A RAP BATTLE!

Since I know that it’s become clear that I enjoy LEGO, Sonic The Hedgehog, do-it-yourself projects, and indie games, I haven’t been secretive of my appreciation for professional wrestlers Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) and Phillip Brooks (CM Punk — did that just blow your mind?).  Rather than just talking about a match, how about I show you in images how awesome these guys are? More after the break! Continue reading “And now…DANIEL BRYAN & CM PUNK MEMES!”

Rob Van Dam vs. John Cena, WWE Championship: ECW One Night Stand 2006

A few weeks ago, Rob Van Dam returned to the WWE at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view to compete in the titular match type in which to win,  you must climb a ladder to grab the suitcase, securing a WWE or World Heavyweight Championship title shot within a one-year period.  Back in the year 2006 (that’s a whole SEVEN YEARS AGO), RVD won the money in the back ladder match at WrestleMania 22 in Chicago, and later announced that he would cash in his Money In The Bank contract/title shot at the ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view in June of that year against WWE Champion John Cena. The WWE Royal Rumble: By The Numbers!

Congratulations to John Cena for winning the 2013 Royal Rumble (becoming the 4th to win the event twice — first time in 2008) and punching his ticket to a World Championship match at WrestleMania XXIX!  For the unfamiliar, the Royal Rumble is the WWE’s annual pay-per-view event produced every January since 1988, in which the event’s main feature is the “Royal Rumble match.”  The match is based on the classic Battle Royal match, in which a number of wrestlers enter the ring at certain time intervals (after 2 wrestlers begin the match) with the goal of eliminating their competitors by tossing them over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor. The winner of the event is the last wrestler remaining after all others have been eliminated, and that wrestler gets a world title shot at WrestleMania.  The WWE recently put up a “By The Numbers” video accounting for several interesting historic and information tidbits on the Royal Rumble, the participants, and stories in the events lineage.  Check out the video after the break!   Continue reading “The WWE Royal Rumble: By The Numbers!”
