When one door closes, another one opens. After the bankruptcy and closure of the popular and long-lasting toy retail store Toys ‘R’ Us this past month, it meant that the brand’s long-time mascot and spokes-animal, Geoffrey the Giraffe, was forced to step away from is lifelong gig. Thankfully, Geoffrey isn’t taking his newly-open schedule lying down, as he’s recently picked up a new pastime and career in the squared-circle down in the Sunshine State. This past Sunday, AJ Styles, the current WWE United States Champion on Smackdown Live, showed up at a NWA Wildside reunion event in his home state of Georgia. Your first question might be: How can he be allowed to attend a indy wreslting event if he’s signed to WWE? Well, Styles was off last weekend (in preparation of his busy week coming up as WWE talent work four days per week on average) so he was able to schedule the appearance. According to Jerry “The King” Lawler from his recent podcast, WWE talent are “technically tax-wise, considered independent contractors” and can make “third-party appearances” at indy events permitted they are not scheduled to work a WWE-based booking, which is done (typically) with the indy promotion making a request to WWE, paying an agreed appearance fee, then WWE asks the talent if they would like to appear, and the deal is done. Let me just preface this by stating the obvious; The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) are the most entertaining tag team in pro wrestling today. All they do is beat you up, take your title belts, perform DX crotch chops (all while screaming that same DX catch-phrase). Also, if it’s your birthday, they’ll even throw-in a superkick to your and for family member’s faces.
No, for real, like to injure you. This IS pro wrestling remember? Continue reading “The Young Bucks Superkick A Father and his Kid Because WRESTLING!!!!11!!11!!!!!!”

Extreme Rising’s live show last Saturday (December 29th) from Philadelphia was one of the wildest independent pro wrestling shows and one of the biggest highlights of 2012. The highlight of the night was definitely Stevie Richards being crowned the new Extreme Rising World Heavyweight Champion, the last match of “The New F’n Show” Jerry Lynn (and the celebration that followed), along with a steel cage match the stole the show, and the overall card was full of surprises, and according to the reactions on Twitter, it was one of the best indy shows of 2012. Hopefully, it won’t be long until Extreme Rising gets a television deal (because competition in televised pro wrestling is AWESOME!). Check out the full results from the show after the break.
