Since there are a glut of audio-animatronic characters at any of Disney’s amusement parks, it’s logical that the company’s research division is working hard to find ways to make them more lifelike. Now, their researchers may have found an inexpensive solution to making artificial muscles by using conductive sewing thread that’s available at any fabric store. Continue reading “Here’s Regular Sewing Thread Woven into Strong Artificial Muscles…”
The latest video from the crew over at Honest Trailers focuses on gaming’s favorite high-speed collision of universes — namely the Final Fantasy and Disney ones — , Kingdom Hearts. As with most Honest Trailers, the popular mash-up gaming series comes out a pile of twisted metal, all in effort to make SOME SENSE of its convoluted storyline. Geez, and I thought following the Metal Gear Solid timeline was a chore, and I’m a HUGE FAN of that series! It’s fair to say that the trailer brings a very good question light: where’s the heck is the Pixar universe?!? You know what’s awesome? Professional Wrestling! You what also pretty darn awesome? Walt Disney animated movies (The Lion King FOR THE WIN)! But do you truly know what’s really, super-freaking awesome. A mash-up of professional wrestling AND Walt Disney characters; namely the Disney princesses. That would a little extra interest in women’s wrestling outside of attending a Hoodslam event.

No joke… Fellow Star Wars nerds (like myself) recognize the Death Star as an awesome symbol of the crookedness and brutality of the Galactic Empire. That statement kind of goes without saying since it’s called the DEATH Star, but as Esther Inglis-Arkell from io9 points out, it’s also an “absolute miracle of plumbing,” architectural design and engineering. The point of reference to that claim lies in imagining just how much tubing is required and the possible number and sizes of the water tanks necessary to maintain the water pressure for a small moon. You could also ask yourself, since the Death Star is a VERY LARGE space station, how its artificial gravity is set up; I’m in the group of fans that believe that — similar to Earth — the artificial gravity on the Death Star goes top to bottom, pulling you towards the center of the ship. If that is the case, you’d need either one huge water tank at the top, with numerous smaller water tanks at regular intervals over the ship’s entire surface.
