Harvard University Develops Robot That Crawls Like a Snake; You Won’t Want These in Your Boots…

Scientists at Harvard University have created a soft, tube-like robot with silicone rubber acting as its artificial skin. The laser-cut rubber used is a thin, stretchable plastic sheet, with the cuts, shaped like triangles or circles, look similar to the scales on the skin of snakes. The robot is able to move as air is pumped into the tube, which allows the robot to expand and contract, resulting in the scales to pop up and anchor against the ground, pulling the robot in a forward motion. Google Releases “App Maker,” a Simple, Drag-and-Drop Application Creator

Late last week, Google announced the launch of App Maker, the company’s attempt to enter the low-code, drag-and-drop app building creator (Microsoft previously released a similar creator called PowerApps, and other start-ups that offer similar services). In the same fashion as prior basic app developing initiatives, Google’s App Maker promises to make it easy for anybody to pick up and swiftly develop simple apps that can serve a very specific purpose inside any group, organization or company. ‘That Dragon, Cancer’ to be this month on January 12th

That Dragon, Cancer. is an independently developed game that showcased an early demo, allowing the player to slowly explore the hospital room of a father and his young son. The young son was dying, and the father felt powerless.  The development of the title has surely been difficult, as one of the developers is the father the game is about and his son passed away during development. The Next ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Game to be Developed by…PLATINUM GAMES!!

Okay, full disclosure here: I love the video games that Platinum Games develops — Vanquish, Bayonetta, Mad World, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, just to name a few.  They contain fun and action-packed gameplay, have charming characters and stories, and are just awesome in almost every way. Well, it appears that Australia’s classification board has a listing for a multiplatform game called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan and, apparently, it’s developed by Platinum Games!
