When Architecture and Halloween Come Together, Cool Things Happen…

OCAD University’s Sharp Centre for Design – Will Alsop by Rob Shostak

First off, HAPPY HALLOWEEN from The PractitioNERD! I hope that you have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the costume parties and trick-or-treating! Now, the common route people take when deciding a Halloween costume is selecting one that aligns with their interests.  Some people point toward their professions, so in the case of architects and those in the design-build profession, this often results in elaborate contructions of elaborate costume pieces resembling buildings and other structures. Thanks to a recent poll by the folks over at ArchDaily, their readers from around the world submitted their architecture-themed costumes. Who Wants to See A Pro Wrestler Dressed as Pikachu do a Perfect Moonsault? (It Should be EVERYONE…)

Performing acrobatic moves in the course of a professional wrestling match is risky and — in some cases — dangerous, but to some wrestlers it’s a second-nature thing. Now, think about performing a move like the moonsault, which involves flipping backwards from the top rope onto your grounded opponent while landing chest first. Now, think about doing a moonsault while dressed in a full mascot costume; those things make everyday tasks like walking and running difficult, and you’ll do/see these tasks in EVERY wrestling match.  Well, nobody told that to this guy dressed as Pikachu… Continue reading Who Wants to See A Pro Wrestler Dressed as Pikachu do a Perfect Moonsault? Kenny Omega And The Young Bucks’ Ghostbusters-Themed Entrance Is Why I LOVE Pro Wrestling Halloween

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know; Halloween was almost TWO WHOLE WEEKS ago, so allow me to continue to gorging on the awesome sugary-sweets that come with the territory, thinking to myself “holy crap, its November NOW?” Anyway, in the realm of the squared-circle, we see some great Halloween costumes — including John Cena doing his best sexy Nikki Bella dance, which was both funny and disturbing — I have to give the gold medal to The Elite, a faction within the faction, The Bullet Club, consisting of Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson). WWE’s Brock Lesnar Halloween Costume is Scarier Than THE REAL Brock Lesnar…

WWE Shop

We’re practically halfway through October, which means Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Lattes are selling like hotcakes (I swear, I NEVER say that), our North American cousins in Canada are celebrating their Thanksgiving while we Americans have to wait another month-and-a-half, and the Halloween season is in full swing. If you don’t have a costume for your wee wrestling-loving children yet, don’t worry — WWE has you covered. They’ve provided a bevy of costumes, each more uncomfortably terrifying than the last, to make sure that your little munchkins can dress up as their favorite Superstars. Or, well, a significantly more terrifying version. So, enjoy that upcoming options; or just run away screaming, because I wouldn’t blame you… Continue reading WWE’s Brock Lesnar Halloween Costume is Scarier Than THE REAL Brock Lesnar…

The Superman “S”: A Visual History

FINALLY, the new Superman movie “Man of Steel” opens today, and now you can’t go anywhere (in real-life, on television, the internet, etc.) without seeing the iconic Superman symbol on practically everything (not that I’M complaining)! Now, thanks to the folks over at HalloweenCostumes.com, we have a lovely infographic that chronicles the upgrades and changes to that classic “S” on Kal-El’s chest (which — debatably— means either “hope”, or “The House of El”) in its use in comics, television and movies (might as well include general pop culture).  Click past the break to view the entire thing, and only then will be truly ready to experience the film… Continue reading The Superman “S”: A Visual History
