Between the rise of hybrid, electric and self-driving autonomous vehicles (among other automobile advancements), automakers around the world are seeing the next great frontier in the driving experience, which includes FINDING A DARN, AVAILABLE PARKING SPOT! It appears that the German car-maker BMW was thinking the same thing, as they have gone from being a minority stakeholder in Parkmobile — described as the largest mobile parking services provider in North America with a footprint over 1 million+ parking spaces — back in 2004 to going all-in by outright buying the app completely. It looks like BMW isn’t just content on profiting from car sales; they was to solve issues with, again, FINDING A DARN, AVAILABLE PARKING SPOT!
Look, robotic remote-controlled cars are awesome and they always have been. Even last fall, Anki released an adorable, palm-sized robot companion names Cozmo for sale in the US. Plus, it didn’t just rolls on its tank treads, it also uses its arm to interact with its surroundings, AND has a built-in camera to recognize you AND your pets. Starting in July, Anki will put the Cozmo on sale in the Great White North (a.k.a., Canada) for $250 CA, and in September, it will be available for purchase in the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Nordic countries. Ever since we’ve be able to take our cell phones and smartphones with us in our cars, we’ve seen companies create products to provide a true hands-free experience. In some cases, smartphone-based heads-up displays for cars were also implemented, however they are typically one-way devices — they’ll feed the info to you, but you still have to reach for your phone to answer a message or get directions. That’s where the Navdy comes in, as it projects car stats, navigation, notifications, and you can interact with them via a series of gestures and built-in voice commands from Android and iOS.
