Check Out the Cancelled (and Near-Finished) ‘Daredevil’ Game from 2002

As part of the superhero boom in the early 2000s that saw licensed films release in time for their silver-screen counterpart, there was meant to be a Daredevil: The Man Without Fear game. It began development in 2002 as a third-person action game for PlayStation 2, but after Marvel saw (and liked) the first prototype, they stepped in to oversee the project and have final say in all decisions (since they owned the rights to the character, so of course). When the game’s publisher, Encore, saw potential sales success with the movie, development expanded to PC and Xbox, and the game turned into an open-world action game set for release in early 2003, alongside the film. After that, boy OH BOY did the drama begin…

I Probably Would Have Been Interested in a PSP ‘Elder Scrolls” Game…

Almost ten years ago, Bethesda was planning a PSP edition of Elder Scrolls IV , and it was going to be part of the “Travels” series. However, it simply wasn’t meant to be and was cancelled. Yesterday, new footage — which was swiftly taken down by Bethesda — and information arrived to explain what this game was going to be about (and this Reddit post should explain how the build was allegedly secured). Play the Cancelled ‘Saints Row’ PSP Game for Free!

Recently, the developers at Volition did something awesome by not just revealing a cancelled game in their most popular series, Saints Row, but by ALSO releasing it to the public FOR FREE for anyone to download! The game, Saints Row Undercover, was being developed for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) before Volition decided to cancel it. It began as a port of Saints Row 2, but it later became its own standalone game. None of that would matter as Volition would later cancel the game due to the prototype not meeting their expectations, but they recently rediscovered it and decided to release it to the wild. And that’s, like, really SUPER COOL! Continue reading “Play the Cancelled ‘Saints Row’ PSP Game for Free!”

Here’s A Rare Prototype of the Sony Super Nintendo CD

We gamers and gaming hobbyists know the story: Nintendo partners with Sony to create a CD-ROM add-on to the Super Nintendo, Nintendo gets cold feet about the contract, Sony announces partnership with Nintendo, THEN Nintendo announces partnership with Sony’s rival, Philips, a spurned Sony goes on the create the legendary PlayStation console (arguably the greatest console in modern gaming history), and the Nintendo/Philips arrangement results in NO SNES CD console, 3 terrible Zelda games and an awful Mario game for the Philips CDi console. What’s a CDi, you ask? EXACTLY.  Anyway, just after the partnership termination with Nintendo, Sony went on to produce prototypes of the cancelled ‘Nintendo Play Station’ console that were eventually shelved. Recently, some guy has recently shown-off his newly acquired prototype of that console. Continue reading “Here’s A Rare Prototype of the Sony Super Nintendo CD”

See Captain America and The Hulk Throw Down in a Cancelled Marvel Fighting Game

Between this week’s and last week’s gaming-related posts, I’ve not come back down from my Avengers: Age of Ultron high, yet… Why, back in my day, video game companies made superhero games for consoles ALL THE TIME; ESPECIALLY when there was a superhero movie coming out in theaters. It happened ALL THE TIME, SERIOUSLY! Well, back in that time, an EA Chicago studio was working on … Continue reading See Captain America and The Hulk Throw Down in a Cancelled Marvel Fighting Game

WWE Brawl; The Game That NEVER WAS…

I know that there are some things that Vince McMahon want people to forget: the WBF (World Bodybuilding Federation), the failed relaunch of WCW (World Championship Wrestling), the failed return of the nWo (New World Order) and the XFL (which stood for…well…TECHNICALLY nothing…).  Maybe we can chalk up another failed project to that pile.  Recently, concept art for an unreleased WWE fighting game, title WWE Brawl, depicting John Cena as a SWAT team member, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as a thug-like Mad Max and Mr. McMahon himself in a Lex Luthor-esque mech suit. More concept pictures and a gameplay video after the break! Continue reading “WWE Brawl; The Game That NEVER WAS…”
