Let’s be honest: there’s a HECKUVA LOT of wrestling matches to choose from on the WWE Network (granted that it includes matches from WWE, WCW, ECW, SMW, AWA, NWA, WCCW, etc.); meaning that it takes a good amount of browsing to dig past the less-than-good matches in order to find the gems. You also have to take into consideration that there are varied factors in what a good match comprises of, whether that’s the type of match, the build of the workers, the flow of a match, and the intensity of the match. According to this (in my honest opinion) spot-on series of lists by the gang at Bleacher Report, here are some of the best matches to watch over on the good ol’ network, ranging by the best technical, high-flying, bloody, cage-style, underrated, and tag team type of matches, including which event that match takes place. Wow, Chris Jericho is…the…MAN! I’ve already gushed about Y2J in a post regarding why he was always welcome in the WWE, but for those who are unfamiliar was to why the Man of the Millennium is so awesome, Daine Pavloski of the Bleacher Report complied a list of fun, little factoids of the Man of 1,004 Holds himself. Ever since debuting in October of 1990 in independent wrestling shows in Canada, Jericho has wrestled in various countries, took the ECW, WCW and WWE by storm, and competed in matches with — and beaten — some of the best professional wrestlers to ever step foot in the squared circle. This list may even make you become a BIGGER fan of the Brewer of Jerichohol. Continue reading “Chris Jericho: Fun Facts About the Ayatollah of Rock-N-Rolla”
Ever since WWE extended Monday Night RAW from a two-hour show to three hours, they’ve had some difficulty providing entertaining programming to fill the entirety of the show — I’d suggest more matches, less segments/interviews. Adrian Fylonenko of The Bleacher Report suggest that the WWE bring back the Cruiserweight (or Light Heavyweight, if you prefer), European, and Hardcore championship titles to help the WWE keep up a solid, quality program for all three hours of RAW, as the reintroduction of these belts could and would create more dynamic storylines and feuds on RAW and –should it go the three-hour route as well — SmackDown. Essentially: WRESTLING > VIDEO FLASHBACKS. Continue reading “WWE Should Bring Back These Three Championship Titles…”
We wrestling fans get excited when our favorite wrestlers return from a hiatus. When wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Bret “Hitman” Hart, and even more recent stars like John Cena (like at the 2008 Royal Rumble, after surgery) return at WWE live events, we –the fans – hang on each and every word they say and anything and everything they do. However, not every return to the McMahon Family Business has been successful. That can range from random incidents committed by said returning superstars, the creative team not knowing what to do with the talent, or maybe that wrestler isn’t just the commodity (in-ring & entertaining-wise) as they used to be. What’s a heel? Well, in the world of professional wrestling, a heel (or villain bad guy, ne’er-do-well) typically does things so dastardly and despicable that makes the fans boo, yell and shout insults in their general direction. However, often many fans still enjoy seeing these guys regardless of their attempts to gain negative heat from the crowd. Throughout the history of pro wrestling there hasn’t really been any particular wrestler who was 100% loved of hated (look at John Cena and CM Punk now-a-days), however, in the case of a few heels, many fans love them more than they’re intended to.
