It’s time for Episode 119 of WIRed, where Montez McCrary discusses floating architecture in Nigeria, how to hack an MP3 player and an old cassette tape, a Behind The Music style look at a Nintendo Rock Band, and some of the best matches on the WWE Network! Welcome to WIRed, bringing you the nerdy-geekery on architecture, technology, gaming, and pro wrestling. Continue reading “Floating MP3Cassette Band Gems – WIRed #119”
Let’s be honest: there’s a HECKUVA LOT of wrestling matches to choose from on the WWE Network (granted that it includes matches from WWE, WCW, ECW, SMW, AWA, NWA, WCCW, etc.); meaning that it takes a good amount of browsing to dig past the less-than-good matches in order to find the gems. You also have to take into consideration that there are varied factors in what a good match comprises of, whether that’s the type of match, the build of the workers, the flow of a match, and the intensity of the match. According to this (in my honest opinion) spot-on series of lists by the gang at Bleacher Report, here are some of the best matches to watch over on the good ol’ network, ranging by the best technical, high-flying, bloody, cage-style, underrated, and tag team type of matches, including which event that match takes place. Welcome to another weekly helping of PractitioNERD WIRed, where this week I discuss the effort to make vacant storefronts look interesting and active, Philips introducing a gesture-sensitive remote control, Metal Gear Solid V shows off a long gameplay trailer, and some classic, old-school pro wrestling from Memphis.
I bring you some more classic professional wrestling in the form of CWA Championship Wrestling. The match above is a classic Memphis Wrestling tag team match featuring Kevin Sullivan and Wayne Farris with manager Jimmy Hart challenging the current tag team champs, Bill Dundee and Dream Machine, for the American Wrestling Association Southern Tag Team Championships. This match took place on May 2, 1981 at the WMC TV5 Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The play–by-play commentary is presented by Lance Russell and Dave Brown, and match was refereed by Jerry Calhoun.
Did you see anything different?
This week, why architects should design with their ears, Evernote launches the Smart Notebook, why should you be watching “Hey Ash, Whatcha’ Playin,” and Jerry Lawler’s AWA-Memphis brawl in 1981. Plus, the QUESTION OF THE WEEK! Continue reading “Acoustics, The EverNoteBook, HAWP & Brawler Lawler – PractitioNERD WIRed #15”
I guess you can’t really say “I went to a fight, and a wrestling match broke out;” I believe it works better with hockey, or badminton, or extreme couponing…
Anyway CWA Championship Wrestling presents a classic Memphis Wrestling tag team title match from August 1, 1981, featuring Japan’s Masa Fuchi and Atsushi Onita (with Tojo Yamamoto) challenging the current champs, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Bill Dundee, for the AWA Southern Tag Team Championship from the WMC TV5 Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The match included play-by-play commentary from Lance Russell and Dave Brown with Jerry Calhoun as the referee. Continue reading “SCRAMBLE!
