I’ve had a WHOLE LOT OF FUN playing Overwatch (well, the open beta, at least), as it was the most I’ve enjoyed playing a class-based shooter since Team Fortress 2 (via The Orange Box) and Resistance 2. Part of that enjoyment was the number of loot boxes I’d accumulate over the course of playing, unlocking new character skins and whatnot. Well, Polygon released a video … Continue reading Watch Polygon open 100 Loot Boxes in ‘Overwatch’…
Okay, full disclosure here: I love the video games that Platinum Games develops — Vanquish, Bayonetta, Mad World, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, just to name a few. They contain fun and action-packed gameplay, have charming characters and stories, and are just awesome in almost every way. Well, it appears that Australia’s classification board has a listing for a multiplatform game called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan and, apparently, it’s developed by Platinum Games! WHOOPS! Also, #FAIL.
Now, I know gamers like displaying our gaming-related memorabilia in our game rooms (gamers like myself and my buddy @PCWzrd13 — who you should follow and who sent this story my way). Now, a statuette and a life-sized statue are two similar yet different types of collectables (yet prices and size are the main differing factors), but if you have the latter, it’s not the best idea to place the life-size statue of a gunman from the ‘Call of Duty‘ series in the front window of your office. ..and NO, this is not about Zombie Professional Wrestling Architects; but it’s not a bad idea… On this week’s edition of PractitioNERD WIRed, I discuss a groundbreaking female African-American architect, a new library in San Antonio WITHOUT BOOKS, how Activision intends on ruining our faith with licensed games, and I continue to complain about things the WWE should bring back (it’s like I care, or something). **AHEM**KingOfTheRing**AHEM** Continue reading “Norma Sklarek’s Bookless Library Shambles w/ Undead WWE Titles – WIRed #33”
Last year’s “The Walking Dead” adventure game from Telltale Games was one of the best games from 2012; it even won Game of the Year from the Spike Video Game Awards and from several other gaming news outlets. It seems like the comic book series, the AMC television show, and the video game have shown that the franchise can product top quality licensed products….until this. Because it’s always just a matter of time for someone to shamelessly milk the license for all it’s worth with little effort and respect for the intellectual property, ENTER: ACTIVISION and TERMINAL REALITY’s “The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct” first-person shooter. Back on Wednesday, August 29th, I was in attendance (with VIP access, because I “rolls” like that) at the first-ever, open-to-the-public GameStop PowerUp Rewards EXPO at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas, which marked MY VERY FIRST GAME CONVENTION EVER!! Plus, I got my chance to finally meet WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler (after calling him out on Twitter). The videos below contain images and footage of games I’ve seen and/or played, from:
Sport Champions 2, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal, God of War Ascension, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Dishonored, Ni No Kuni, Injustice, Assassin’s Creed 3 (& Liberation), Rayman Legends (on WiiU), Nintendoland, Dead of Alive 5, Halo 4, Little Big Planet Karting, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Tomb Raider, Hitman: Absolution, Aliens: Colonial Marines, WWE ’13, and more!
Check out the slideshow and some videos after the break!

Wait! A Call of Duty game that will have branching paths in the main campaign storyline for the first time in the franchise’s history? AND side-missions to add onto said storyline, taking a sandbox approach? AND the return of Zombie Mode? AND it takes place 13 years in the future in a (prayerfully) neo-Cold War 2025? Oh my goodness; I’m actually LOOKING FORWARD to a new Call of Duty game. Oh boy, oh boy; three-two-one, one-two-three, what the HECK is bothering me? Continue reading ““Call of Duty: Black Ops II” out 11/13/2012, and I’m….Excited?”
