I’ve owned a Nintendo Gamecube for years, and as much fun as I have playing the games (i.e. Eternal Darkness, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, etc.), I personally cannot stand the Gamecube controller. While it’s not the worst controller I’ve ever held (I’m looking at you, Atari Jaguar; quit laughing original Xbox “Duke” controller), the button layout is a mess, in my honest opinion. Thankfully, I have an adapter to use my PlayStation 2 controller (which is perfect; also, in my honest opinion) with my Gamecube, and it’s wonderful. It’s a little hard to find such a cross-controller-to-console device for the current generation of video game consoles, but now with this adapter from Cronus, you can use your Xbox 360 controller with the PlayStation 3 (or vice-versa; even with the Wii).
Wait! A Call of Duty game that will have branching paths in the main campaign storyline for the first time in the franchise’s history? AND side-missions to add onto said storyline, taking a sandbox approach? AND the return of Zombie Mode? AND it takes place 13 years in the future in a (prayerfully) neo-Cold War 2025? Oh my goodness; I’m actually LOOKING FORWARD to a new Call of Duty game. Oh boy, oh boy; three-two-one, one-two-three, what the HECK is bothering me? Sony has just confirmed that there is going to be a new God of War game, entitled God of War: Ascension, for the PlayStation 3. Ascension would be a prequel to the entire existing God of War series — Chains of Olympus (PSP), GOW1 (PS2), Betrayal (mobile), Ghost of Sparta (PSP), GOW2 (PS2) and GOW3 (PS3)– and that more information about the game would be released on the PlayStation Blog on Monday, April 30th. The game will follow the origins of Kratos, the longtime protagonist of the series, as “he takes his first steps on a now legendary quest for freedom and vengeance.”
A few weeks ago, I took advantage of a great deal at my local Best Buy and purchased a brand new Pogoplug Classic (that used to retail at $130) for only 30 BUCKS. For the last few years I’ve been looking for a media server (like the LaCie LaPlug Media Server), and this steal came along. For the longest time, I’ve been using my laptop or my near-10-year-old desktop PC along with some server software (i.e., TVersity, PS3 Media Server, Vuze, Orb, etc.), that that always involved having my computer on ALL OF THE TIME, hogging up a whole lot of power.
After some American Revolution-era based Assassin’s Creed images and artwork was leaked a several days ago, Ubisoft has finally confirmed both the game’s setting and box art.
Remember children, if you do not take care of those ol’ chompers, you’ll have to live with badly conditioned teeth, gums, numerous surgical procedures and battling the evil disease of GIN-GA-VITIS!!! Or…..you could always get yourself a new pair of the old incisors, canines, premolars, and molars from a freaking printer!! Last year, an 83-year-old woman in Belgium had her entire lower jaw replaced with a 3D printed replica.
The 25th annual WWE Survivor Series event took place last night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. While keeping tabs on the match results on numerous wrestling websites, I started thinking about all of the classic matches from Survivor Series’ past. All of that thought ended with my knowledge of the very first Survivor Series on Thanksgiving Night of 1987. In 1987, fresh … Continue reading Team Hogan vs. Team Andre the Giant (WWF Survivor Series ’87)
The Yakuza video game series by SEGA (known in Japan as Like a Dragon) is one of the more underrated critical darlings in gaming. It can best be described as the Japanese version of Rockstar Games’ popular Grand Theft Auto series, mixed with the short-lived Shenmue series, also made by SEGA. SEGA is currently working on releasing a new side-story to the Yakuza series with the … Continue reading "Yakuza: Dead Souls" is Coming to the US in 2012!! MOAR ZOMBIES!!
Snake? Snake! SNNNNNAAAAAAKKKKKE!!!!!! Ah yes, RISK; the classic turn-based strategy board game in which two to six players attempt to occupy every territory on the board and eliminate all competing forces. Over the past 10 years or so, RISK has been going under a series of changes; from the major streamlining of the game’s rules back in 2008, to the multiple amount of licensed versions (i.e., Lord … Continue reading Board Game "RISK" adapts to the Metal Gear Solid series

I personally own about 20 video game systems and over 500 games in my collection. Whenever I travel, I typically bring my PSP and my DSlite, but if I’m going somewhere where there’s going to be a television, I’m going to bring along a gaming console, and it’s usually between the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Often, this decision takes about a day or so so I can think about what games I’m currently playing on what system, and the system with the most currently played games ends up winning that decision, but I believe that it is safe to say that this gamer may not have similar first-world issues like mine in the near future.
