Sources with the Pro Wrestling Torch have recently and independently confirmed that former Ring of Honor World Heavywieght Champion and former Bullet Club member Adam Cole has signed with WWE and will be debuting in NXT. If you’re following this story, you’ll recall that it was PWInsider who first reported Cole’s signing, and, according to PWInsider, Cole is set to head over to the NXT’s home base, the WWE Performance Center, this week.
Even though these same sources claim that Cole will be getting a good push in NXT, we have seem as of late that WWE has been scaling back pushing wrestlers coming out of the independent promotions and ROH when they debut for their brand (i.e., Drew McIntyre, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly). Plus, it appears that that will be par-for-the-course from now on at WWE’s developmental program. It appears that the plan isn’t to have Cole be pushed as a top heel in NXT just yet, since another talent is supposedly going to be used for that spot. Plus, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative Triple H seems to have a large amount of homegrown talent at the Development Center that he thinks are ready to be given TV time on NXT in the near future.
