Officially announced only this past Monday morning (after teasing up this past Sunday, then another image on Monday), Rockstar Games, the developers and the creators of Grand Theft Auto 5 and the original Red Dead Redemption, officially announced the long-awaited sequel of the latter title, Red Dead Redemption 2, and that it would be released next fall on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
On a news post from their official website, Rockstar states that:
“Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems. An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
Open-world Western action game Red Dead Redemption was first released in May 2010 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC to near-completely positive reactions from both fans and critics. In that game, you play as John Marston, who is forced to take on work from a gang after his wife and son are taken hostage. You play the game from a third-person perspective as you tread through 1911’s western United States and Mexico.
Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games, said in a prepared statement:
“With Red Dead Redemption 2, the team is working hard to push forward our vision for interactive entertainment in a truly living world. We hope to deliver players an epic experience that builds upon everything we’ve learned making games.”
