Have you ever found yourself in need to create a logo, website mockup, or any variant of a digital illustration, but you don’t have the cash to buy expensive software from Adobe? Well, I’ve got some great news for you! Let me introduce you Gravit, a robust illustration program that works in your browser, so you DON’T need to download ANY software!
If you’ve familiar with Illustrator or Photoshop, you should have little-to-no problems working with Gravit. The browser-based tool features vector tools like a pen, line and Bezigon tools, including auto-shapes. Gravit allows you to work in layers and simply align, group, or clip objects. Plus, not only can you import EPS files into Gravit, you can even export your files to the PNG, JPG, or SVG file formats.
“Totoro” is an illustration created by Ani Kostova of Smashing Magazine in Gravit while exploring its features. (View large version or view in Gravit)
Gravit’s public designs page shows some impressive designs that other users created with the app. I’ll be perfectly honest; even though Gravit may not have ALL the features you’d find in Illustrator or Photoshop, it IS a very powerful — and FREE– alternative.
