Here’s the Improved Hendo Hoverboard, and…I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE!

Look, when I say I want a hoverboard, I’m talking about a board or device that actually HOVERS OVER THE FREAKING GROUND WITHOUT TOUCHING IT. In case you haven’t caught on, THESE are NOT hoverboards; these self-balancing scooters DON’T HOVER OVER THE GROUND! Anyway, this new and improved Hendo Hoverboard, made by Arx Pax, not only actually hovers but it actually looks pretty darn fun!

The New and Improved Hendo Hoverboard Looks Fun As Hell

Currently, the 2.0 version of the Hendo still only works on a special copper surface that’s constructed in a warehouse in Los Gatos, California. However, since then they’ve used a real skateboard deck, improved the battery, as well as improving the ability to direct the board. Arx Pax engineer Kyle O’Neill told AP “we build and sell hover engines, we’re not just about hoverboards. We have hover engines for a bunch of different applications,” which indicated that Arx Pax is using the hoverboard project as a means to an end for more bolder applications

The New and Improved Hendo Hoverboard Looks Fun As Hell

Initially, Arx Pax aimed to make a system that would levitate parts of buildings during an earthquake, however their current public relations push now seems to be leaning toward the Hyperloop. While we’re still a long ways away from being able to go to your local neighborhood hoverboard skateparks on every other block (or just seeing them on a normal sidewalk), but Arx Pax is showing that the Hendo 2.0 looks like a nice step in the right direction.
