According to Variety, WWE Studios is co-producing a biopic about WWE Hall of Famer Gorgeous George, written by actor Josh Gad and his partner Ryan Dixon. Finally, WWE Studios is making a movie about PRO WRESTLING. Took them long enough…
Also, just so you now and don’t get confused, this film will NOT be about Macho Man Randy Savage’s WCW valet. Thank God. Anyway, for those who aren’t familiar with Gorgeous George (real name George Raymond Wagner), he’s without-a-doubt, the most influential performer in the history of pro wrestling. He may have single-handedly made pro wrestling an American pop culture and television sensation in the 1950s. By introducing flamboyant showmanship into the sport, he made not just pro wrestling, but television itself more popular and influenced future generations of wrestlers and athletes such as: Muhammad Ali and James Brown. George passed away in 1962, and was honored with a WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2010, where his was inducted by Dick “The Destroyer/Dr. X” Beyer and represented by his ex-wife Betty Wagner.
