While Capcom is spinning its wheels on the series (although Resident Evil HD Remastered was prettybfreaking good and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 looks very promising), YouTube user Rod Lima has finished a complete remake of Resident Evil 2 in Unreal Engine 3, with the video above containing Claire’s A scenario from start to finish. Maybe THIS is the remake that us RE fans wanted for arguably the best game of the classic (tank-controlled) RE series. Sure, the GameCube remake was awesome, but what about the second one?
Lima worked with the free version of the Unreal Development Kit (since he wanted to learn how to use the Unreal Engine to create games), and every background and model has been either polished or recreated entirely and coded into a visually impressive project. At first viewing, it’s difficult to believe that many of the models and animations in this fan-made remake are actually modifications of the original, but according to Rod, most of those assets were lifted straight from a retail copy of Resident Evil 2.
Hey Capcom, MAYBE you should hire this guy. Just saying…
