Can’t Write? Can’t Use Scissors? Here’s A Printer For You!

With all of the hullabaloo about 3D printers, espcially after CES and the rise of more economically-prices printers of that variety, It’s nice to talk about old-school, 2D printing again.  This is the Cricut’s brand new $300 printer model, the Explore, but it’s both like and unlike our traditional home inkjet printers at home. Like its the prior Cricut models use a small blade on its “print head” where the ink would normally be installed, the Explore can cut and slice up a page to your heart’s desire, PLUS this new model introduces the ability to draw any design using your own choice of marker.

Here’s how it works: the Cricut Explore has a small German carbide blade that cuts out any design on your basic 8.5″ by 11″ sheet (to make cards, invites, and other trinkets using the included software with a database of over 50,000 images and designs), but with the Explore’s ability to handle a marker, you won’t need to sign anything or use your mediocre calligraphy skills on an invite or card you made as the Explore will draw any design on that page, but still look like you wrote it with the pen all by yourself.
