CM Punk Takes Illiteracy To Task on “Grammar Slam”

Never again can you say that professional wrestlers aren’t smart and great speakers. WWE Superstar CM Punk, the “Second City Saint” himself, is just that, and he’s also a huge grammar snob, particularly toward those who troll and insult him on the internet. In his delightful new series on the Nerdist Channel, Grammar Slam, Punk teaches sad online trolls how to correctly use some of the internet’s commonly misused words. Of course, he does this the way we’d expect him to: by verbally berating and ripping apart the grammar of the so-called tough-guys who send him nasty messages across social media and e-mail.

CM Punk takes on the correct and incorrect usage of the terms “literally” and “figuratively,” “threw” and “through,” “then” and “than” , and “their”, “there” and “they’re.”  Punk expresses his main reason for the show (other than his notoriety for banning people on his Twitter account who can’t insult him using proper grammar:

“I think grammar is super important. I think writing things down is super important. You hear horror stories of schools no longer teaching cursive or writing, and it’s all computers and stuff like that. It kind of scares me in a way. You know, someday someone is going to be stranded on a desert island and they’re going to have to put a message in a bottle and throw it out to sea. They’re not going to have their MacBook to type it on.”

Here are all FIVE episodes for your viewing enjoyment. And entertainment.
