If you’re a fan of the Metal Gear series (as I am), and you want to know more about how a new open-world design is going to work and/or change the traditional stealth-oriented gameplay in the next Metal Gear Solid game, then it’s best you take a peek at the above video. This is a long demonstration of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain from Sony’s livestream from this year’s Tokyo Games Show. You’ve got to admit that Snake looks better than ever on next-gen consoles, huh?
Yeah, I know; it’s coming to the PS3 and 360 as well. Anyway, on March 27, 2013 at GDC 2013, Hideo Kojima officially confirmed that the former Fox Engine tech demo Ground Zeroes and the mysterious trailer from a “new IP” The Phantom Pain were one and the same (within the same game), and that the final title was going to be Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He subsequently presented a trailer and showcased the finer aspects of the Fox Engine, later explaining that Ground Zeroes would be the prologue to the main Phantom Pain segment.
Thanks again Kojima-san; I don’t know HOW much marketing money you saved Konami since intentional confusion comes at the price of free. Good on you , sir.
