SCRAMBLE! Jerry Lawler/Bill Dundee vs Masa Fuchi/Atsushi Onita, AWA Southern Tag Title Match (08-01-1981)

I guess you can’t really say “I went to a fight, and a wrestling match broke out;” I believe it works better with hockey, or badminton, or extreme couponing…

Anyway CWA Championship Wrestling presents a classic Memphis Wrestling tag team title match from August 1, 1981, featuring Japan’s Masa Fuchi and Atsushi Onita (with Tojo Yamamoto) challenging the current champs, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Bill Dundee, for the AWA Southern Tag Team Championship from the WMC TV5 Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The match included play-by-play commentary from Lance Russell and Dave Brown with Jerry Calhoun as the referee.

What starts out as a simple tag team wrestling match, it ends with so many things going on that it can get a little confusing as things go from bad to worse. During the progress of the match, Lawler attacks Hart outside the ring, then the entire locker room empties(along with wrestlers Steve Keirn, Dutch Mantell, Dream Machine, Nightmare Ken Wayne, Nightmare Danny Davis, Rick Gibson, Robert Gibson, and Bugsy McGraw) as the Hart vs Lawler feud exploded on live TV, without ANY regard to the championship match in progress.
