Presenting the $99 Vizio Co-Star Google TV set-top box; Pre-Order NOW!

Look out Boxee Box, Roku, & Apple TV! Vizio is about to give you a run for your money…er…our money…but still, COMPETITION!! Anyway, today Vizio is beginning to take pre-orders for its Co-Star Google TV box, due for an August 14th release. For under $100, this small little box of awesome adds the new, updated Google TV experience to your existing setup, along with its remote that sports a QWERTY keyboard on the underside and an integrated IR blaster. The Co-Star is powered by one of Marvell’s ARM processors, making it ready for the online game-streaming service OnLive, among other entertainment online services.  Man, I sure would LOVE to get my hands on one of these…

The Vizio Co-Star comes with full HD 1080p and 3D support, while also being able to connect to a cable or satellite box, unlike most of the current set-top boxes available (except the Boxee Box, should you also own the TV tuner). This feature allows viewers to enjoy full screen web browsing, supported by both Adobe Flash Player and (in my opinion, superior) HTML 5, access to entertainment apps like Netflix®, YouTube®, Amazon Instant Video, iHeartRadio, among many more (readily available for download through the Google Play Store).   All of this, and you will not need to switch inputs or remotes thanks to that universal touchpad remote with keyboard and built-in IR blaster.

As mentioned earlier, August 14th is the current estimated shipping date (so it’s subject to change), so should you be intrigued — as I am — to be an early adopter (and take advantage of Vizio’s “limited time” free shipping offer) before the Co-Star drops into retail stores, go ahead and go to the Vizio Store link below, and check out the quick video preview embedded after the break while you’re at it.
