Remember when your lovely piece of new tech hotness ran like the wind on day one? If your answer is yes, then it’s probably not so fast nowadays. That doesn’t mean you can’t restore it to its former glory. Whether it’s your desktop, laptop, or mobile device, here are 10 great ways to speed up your slow technology (which do NOT include going to some scam website you saw on a television commercial; DO NOT GO TO THOSE SITES, please).
Adam Dachis of Lifehacker provided several recommendation to aid in speeding up our favorite gadgets. The tips range from simpler tasks such as: Cleaning up your computer/phone hard drive, uninstall unnecessary apps and programs, speed up the file syncing speeds in DropBox (it’s simpler than it sounds), perform regular system maintenance & optimization, boost your computer’s boot time, and buy a solid state hard drive (SSD) if you got the cash.
The tips also include the more time-intensive tasks of: Rooting and installing a custom ROM on your Android phone, optimize you DNS settings to speed up web browsing times, install a lightweight operation system like Linux/Ubuntu, and overclock your computer’s processor.
