Kyle Field Redevelopment Reflects Passion of Texas (Aggie) Football
Texas A&M University received approval from the A&M System Board of Regents on May 1st to proceed with one of the largest college football stadium redevelopments in history for the historic — as in “since 1927″ historic — Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. The total cost of the project totals to approximately $450 million, increasing the capacity from 82,589 to 102,500, and making it the largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the state of Texas –insert “everything’s bigger in Texas” joke here. The reWHOOPification (or as professionals call “renovation” and “expansion”; whatever, man) of Kyle Field will begin immediately following the end of the upcoming 2013 college football season and is expected to be finished in time to open the 2015 season. The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Football Team will show how much they don’t fear construction, concrete and cranes by continuing to play their home games during the reWHOOPification of the iconic stadium.

Ronald McDonald goes Herb Brooks with “Miracle” Speech to Hockey Team

The Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League had a “McDonald’s Night” earlier this month, where they played wearing McDonalds-themed jerseys to be auctioned off for charity. I know, “so what,” but here’s what; Ronald McDonald provides his best Herb Brooks impression (sidebar: Brooks coached the USA Olympic Hockey Team in the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid) to deliver the Miracle speech from the movie, well, Miracle, starring S.D. Bob “Snake” Plissken himself, Kurt Russell. It should also go without saying that just like Team USA did in 1980 against the Russians, the Americans won in a 4-0 shutout. Team USA’s Basketball Jerseys Are Made From Recycled Plastic Bottles; Our Recyclable Litter at Work.
Nike has announced the the 2012 iteration of Team USA’s basketball jerseys for the Olympic Games in London would be made of 96% recycled polyester, making them the lightest jerseys Nike ever made. Additionally, the shorts will be 100% recycled polyester and only weight 5 ounces. Nike verifies that each jersey is made from 22 recycled plastic bottles to create the breathable polyester fabric the jerseys are made of. Pretty snazzy-looking, don’t you think? It may be more successful than the NBA experiment with the synthetic basketball.
