Smokey Mountian Wrestling – Shawn Michaels vs. Buddy Landell (1995)

There’s  a special moment in professional wrestling when the fans lose their minds when they see a wrestler from Promotion A suddenly show up at a show hosted by Promotion B.  Smokey Mountain Wrestling’s co-founder and owner Jim Cornette signed a working agreement with the World Wrestling Federation to trade talent, manage and serve as an on-air talent for that company to become a financially successful independent promotion. In match below (after the break), WWF Intercontinental Champion “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels defends the title against “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landell at the SMW Super Bowl of Wrestling event, on August 4th, 1995 at the Civic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Smokey Mountain Wrestling operated from October 1991 to December 1995, and though the promotion was relatively short-lived, it was held in high-regard for the quality of the matches, talent, and traditional in-ring and storyline style.  Watch the entire match by clicking here ==>   Read the rest of this entry

The Faraday Porteur Electric Bicycle

Is this a sign of great technological advancement or proof that we humans are getting lazier and lazier?  Either way, the Faraday Porteur is aiming to become the “ultimate electric propelled utility bicycle.  The bike, built by and for cyclists, was nicknamed “the ultimate modern utility bicycle” by the Oregon Manifest bicycle design competition.  Just from looking at an image of it, you can tell that the Faraday Porteur is an elegantly designed bike, plus the designers claim that the bicycle is both comfortable and effortless to ride – whether you’re using the electric motor or not.  The project is up on Kickstarter, and they have far reached their $100,000 goal (raising 137,815 as of 7/30) before the end date of August 11th.   Read the rest of this entry

Get ‘Old-School’ Optimus Prime with pre-order of “Transformers: Fall of Cybertron”

The Transformers!! More Than Meets The Eye!!  Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons!! The Transformers!! Robots In Disguise!! The Transformers!! More Than Meets The Eye!!  THE TRANSFORMERS!!

Retro fandom aside, the latest trailer for the upcoming multiplatform game “Transformers: Fall of Cybertron” — the sequel to “Transformers: War for Cybertron,” both serving as precursors to the live-action films — showcases some very excellent and radical (yes, RADICAL)  guitar licks, including the awesome song “The Touch” from the original “Transformers: The Movie” animated film.  The crown jewel of the trailer — in my own opinion — were the clips featuring a transforming G1 (Generation 1) Optimus Prime. Now that I’ve grabbed the attention of your childhood nostalgia, players that pre-order the game, developed by High Moon Studios, at any participating GameStop locations will not only receive exclusive in-game combat weapons AND the G1 Optimus Prime character for use in both the single-player campaign and multiplayer modes.   Read the rest of this entry

The Mobile Container Hospitals, aka the “Insta-Hospital”!

This is the Mobile Hospital, a container that expands into a medical structure three times its original size, created by designer Kukil Han. The structure can carry the beds, supplies, and has the ability to combine up to four modules to create a mini-hospital with four wings.  Han was influenced by the idea of having a “go-anywhere” solution for providing medical aid to victims globally of natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, tsunamis and storms. Shelton Benjamin vs Kurt Angle, 2005

Current Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling star Kurt Angle took on current Ring of Honor (ROH) wrestling star Shelton Benjamin on an episode of WWE Monday Night RAW on August 22nd, 2005.  Both were former collegiate wrestling All-Americans, and were teammates in the wrestling stable “Team Angle,” along with Charlie Haas (also now in ROH, along with Benjamin). Shelton Benjamin was a high school All-State athlete in 3 sports for 2 years-in-a-row in at South Carolina, the two-time South Carolina state high school heavyweight wrestling champion in 1993 and 1994, and a two-time All-American heavyweight wrestler while attending the University of Minnesota.  Kurt Angle was a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and won the gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1995 World Wrestling Championships, and at the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta.

Soon, the USB Will Replace EVERY Power Connector You Own; YAY Synergy!

It has been recently announced that newer USB cables that used the USB 2.0 and 3.0 technology should be able to supply a whole 100 watts of power, which is enough to power a computer.  You read correctly: you could be able to charge a laptop via USB! It was decided that new USB cables in production will be able to carry enough to power the brightest light bulb possible.  It makes you think about how much we can take the USB technology for granted, as we use USB ports in our myriad of devices to charge a variety of gadgets almost as much as our wall outlets.  Pretty soon, it will be possible that this could be a universal laptop charging solution; or a universal charging solution in general. The LEAP Motion-Control PC Device; Puts Kinect to Shame

The Leap is a small iPod sized USB peripheral that creates a 3D interaction space of 8 cubic feet to precisely interact with and control software on your laptop or desktop computer; it’s almost as if it comes straight from a science fiction movie (mainly Minority Report, more-or-less).  Essentially, the precision device senses various types of gestures in a 3D space, and can be used for a whole variety of games, programs and applications (more so than Kinect typically working well with nothing else besides the Dance Central and Fruit Ninja games).   Read the rest of this entry

This Musical Olympic Structure Looks Like Superman’s Fortress of Solitude

However, this building also looks like bloody shards of glass, as possibly Gulliver himself my have died after he fell directly on top of it.  Also, this makes this the fourth building erected for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London that has been covered on The PractitioNERD (exhibits A, B, & C).  The Coca-Cola Beatbox, designed by Asif Khan and Pernilla Ohrstedt, is a crystalline structure that is more than meets the eye (like Optimus Prime), as it can be played like a musical instrument.   Read the rest of this entry

Takeshi’s Challenge is SOOO CHALLENGING; Probably Made by Satan…

image
If was possible for the fallen angel Satan (a.k.a. Lucifer) to have designed the most frustrating, challenging, and impossible video game of all time, I’m fairly certain it would be Takeshi’s Challenge.  Originally released on the Nintendo Family Computer (or Famicom, the Japanese variant of the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES) in Japan on December 10th, 1986, and became renowned for it’s unrelenting difficulty.

Frank Gehry’s Vernacular New Orleans House; FRANK. GEHRY. VERNACULAR?!? WHAT?!?

image
Famed architect Frank Gehry has completed his first home for Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation. Located in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, LA, this two-family home is a new addition in a neighborhood that encountered some of the worst damage in the aftermath of the flooding during Hurricane Katrina.  The house also conforms to LEED Platinum Standards, which was due to the inclusion of weathering-resistant materials for the siding, an array of solar panels on the roof — along with the high-efficiency roofing– and many other eco-friendly products.  What make this piece of news newsworthy to me is that this house doesn’t seem like something that was designed by Gehry, as the so-called “starchitect” is known for his structures deemed “outlandish,” “over-the-top,” “attention-seeking,” and typically void of representing local vernacular. [PICTURES TO BE ADDED LATER; WORDPRESS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH DETAILED POST EDITING]
